The cluster
All heritage interpretation is complex. It is often based on uncertain information, or information extrapolated from other sites. Sites may cover many periods or have had varying functions.
The aim of this cluster is to bring together individuals with a variety of skills including computer scientists, archaeologists and heritage managers to look at different stages of their site's past and present different versions of that past if desired.
We have run 4 workshop events, and have supported the Digital Heritage workshop.
Event 1: Heritage Visualizations & Technologies (Feb 19-20, 2009)
Event 2. Heritage Modelling and Visualization (May 7-8 2009)
Event 3. Heritage Modelling and Visualization - Heritage Buildings & multivocality (July 9-10 2009)
Event supported: Digital Past 2010, The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales
Event 4: Virtual Heritage (March 21,22). Technium CAST, Parc Menai, Bangor.
Overview
This cluster will bring together scientists, historians/archaeologists and heritage organisations to study best practice nationally and internationally and to extend and model the application of visualization research using particular sites as case studies.
Funded by the AHRC/EPSRC under the Science and Heritage Programme.
The research cluster and the networking events is led by Dr. Jonathan C. Roberts and Prof. Raimund Karl, and coordinated by WISCA (The Welsh Institute for Social and Cultural Affairs, Bangor University)
